Let's take the train to get some Spanish bread

I did the same when I had a craving for (French) canele. But that was a disappointment when the canele was burnt and the custard inside tasteless (Asian bakers attempting French stuff!).

But you can’t fuck up Spanish bread can you? I’ve loved every version I’ve tasted, and this one wasn’t any different- soft and airy, the butter and sugar just right. I remember even eating some where the butter (probably margarine which actually tastes better) had gone a bit rancid from the heat and it was still delicious.

And in this economy, a $1.50 Spanish bread beats an $8 canele any day.
